Santa Pola celebrates the inauguration of the exhibition of selected projects from the European EUROPAN 18 competition
Santa Pola today celebrated the inauguration of the exhibition of selected projects from the European EUROPAN 18 competition for the regeneration of the Varadero-Cantera area, at an event held at the Bastion of Santa Pola Castle.
EUROPAN is a European competition for ideas in architecture and urban planning aimed at architects and multidisciplinary teams under 40 years old. Its aim is to drive innovative proposals for real sites, responding to contemporary challenges such as housing, sustainability and urban regeneration.
The day began with an institutional round table and a detailed presentation of the winning project, framed within the dissemination and participation programme. During this first meeting, the criteria, strategy and lines of intervention proposed for the Varadero-Cantera area were presented, allowing for a deeper understanding of the first prize proposal and its vision for transforming the environment.
Subsequently, the exhibition was inaugurated at the Templete de la Plaza de La Glorieta in Santa Pola, where the selected projects submitted to the competition can be visited, including a First Prize, a Second Prize and a Special Mention. The exhibition gives citizens the opportunity to discover first-hand the different visions and strategies proposed for this strategic enclave of the municipality.
The aim of this initiative is to foster citizen participation in defining the future of the Varadero-Cantera area. Interested parties can participate in two ways: by submitting the form available at the exhibition itself, through the physical ballot box at the Templete de La Glorieta, or by completing the online form on the project's official website.https://europan18santapola.es/en/deje-su-opinion
The round table series will continue on 20 and 27 February at the Santa Pola Nautical Club, broadening the dialogue between professionals, institutions and citizens.
Citizen participation will remain open until 12 April.
